Despot: frequently asked questions

What is Despot?

Despot is a parimutuel trading game on Solana. You trade real countries, vote where their armies attack, and every 16 minutes the winners take the losing side's tokens.

Is Despot the same as Despot's Game?

No. Despot, at despot.io, is a trading game on Solana. Despot's Game is an unrelated roguelike by Konfa Games.

How do I start playing?

Open despot.io, connect a Solana wallet such as Phantom, Solflare or Backpack, and add SOL to your war vault. Then buy the country you back and vote on who it attacks.

What are country tokens?

Each country has its own tokens, called shares in the app. They are recorded in your position on Despot's program on Solana, not as a separate coin in your wallet, so they are bought and sold only inside Despot.

How is a country's price set?

By its own price curve. Buying creates tokens and raises the price, selling removes them and lowers it. At launch a country can sell up to 150,000 tokens, and its price climbs to 15 times the launch price.

How often are there wars?

Every round, about every 16 minutes: 11 minutes of trading and voting, 30 seconds sealed, 2.5 minutes of war and a 2-minute loot sale. The game counts time in Solana's blocks, so a round can run a little shorter or longer.

How is a war decided?

Each country's target is drawn by lottery, weighted by its holders' votes. The battle is then a weighted coin flip: each side's chance is its army's share of both armies. The randomness is published on Solana after trading closes, and every round's draw can be checked.

What happens if my country loses?

Its tokens go to the holders of the country that beat it, so you lose what you held in it. Attacking is as risky as being attacked: a country whose attack fails is the one conquered.

Can I sell before the war?

Yes, the unlocked half of what you bought, at any time while trading is open. The other half unlocks when the round's wars are over.

What are the fees?

0.5% to buy or sell, and the same to sell loot after a war. In the final minute before trading closes the fee rises by up to 0.5% more. Wars carry no fee. Solana's own network fees are small and paid to the network.

Who holds my money?

You do. Your tokens are recorded on Solana under your own wallet, payouts go only to your wallet, and the platform cannot move, freeze or take them. The money behind each country sits in that country's own reserve, apart from the platform's fees.

Can I play on my phone?

Yes. Despot runs in the browser, on a phone too. Open it in your wallet app's browser, or connect a wallet from your phone's browser.

Which languages does Despot speak?

English, Turkish, Arabic, Russian, Portuguese, German, French and Chinese.
